pilots, etc.I went over to futoncritic and they report Chris O'Donnell and Aidan Quinn are doing pilots for the '05-'06 season. Whoa more film actors going to TV, I 'm thinking GM was absolutely right...9-11 changed things and even in showbiz...actors wanting more stability and steady paycheck? I don't ever recall in the last ten yrs this many film actors going to primetime TV!!!!! Remember when it was norm that film stars did some TV before doing filmwork? That TV was just a steppin stone to "greater things" Will SMith, Tom Hanks, Julianne Moore, and Robin Williams all come to mind.
top soap moments 2004this was a hilarious snarky top ten list..."BEST SOAP of 2004: NONE!" TVguide was a bit nicer, their top soap of 2004 was given to 1988 airings of Another World currently on Soapnet.... LINK don't mean to freak out butI haven't seen GH for awhile and I saw a screensnap of Lucky and Liz kissing, and I freaked out. Greg V GREW HIS HAIR OUT????? Was he tryin to imitate Jonathan Jackson or something? And also I'm wondering about comfort levels of kissing. Guess it depends on the partner about open-mouth kissing. Peyton and Grayson really didn't have problems really gettin into it, it kills me everytime to see Peyton's mouth opened in screenshots. Rick H and Becky Herbst took it to a new art level sucking lips and smooshing bodies. Okay I digress, back to the surfer dude hair...I dunno but it seems that long hair just doesn't work well with soaphunks. Case in points: Ricky Paull Goldin, Agim Kaba, Grayson, Rick Hearst when he had the mullet going or bangs. After cuttin hair? Rock solid bonafide soaphunks. Please soaphunks, I begg of you, keep CUTTING YOUR HAIR!
yet another blurb on my magazine venturesWell, oddly I wonder if other mags have done this...I recently got a Hollywood Life mag subscription, but have no idea how I got it. I must've filled out an online form that gave me one with no cost. Knock on wood. They did the oddest thing. I'm gettin back issues from last fall and seemingly my subscription ends in Sept. '05 to complete the "one yr". Did they have leftover back issues to get rid of?
YM Magazine had FOLDED!Wow, another teen mag that I used to read has closed shop this month. subscribers are now going to get teen vogue instead. I had a losing streak going on too---I subscribed to Jump, Biography, and a plus-size women's mag that I can't recall the name of...ALL of them folded after I finished my subscription (well Biography is offered free now 4x a yr)...so glad the streak was broken since I didn't subscribe to YM. Anyhoo, since the startup of Elle Girl, Teen Vogue, and Teen Cosmo, not a Big big loss
acting salariesI went over to IMDB and I was just floored at the actors' reported salaries....Rachael Leigh Cook made 1.5 million for Josie and the Pussycats?????? I cannot believe it. I took a glance at Kristen Kreuk's salary for her first yr on Smallville, WB only shelled out 40,000 dollars for her? No wonder she continued that and her Canadian Soap, Edgemont doing both shows simultaneously.
Smallvilleokay my thoughts about Peyton guesting on Smallville...wow, I hadn't seen this series in years...it's now in its fourth season...to refresh myself, I went to various boards to read up on stuff, DId not know Jensen Ackles is now on this show! Wow, hadn't seen him since Days of Our Lives...6-7 yrs ago! Also sad to hear that Clark's parents aren't shown as much, cuz I recall they were integral to the shows. I saw lots of shipper banners and I always had a different feelin about shipping on Primetime shows. With just 22-24 eps, can viewers realy sway the writers fast enough to make grand changes? I see campaigns all the time on daytime, but with more eps to work on, I thought it was inevitable. (then again, I can see you can be for dream pairings on primetime shows not necessarily campaign for them)
guess my thoughts for todayOk I finally posted that SOD "Nice Work if u can Get It " article, and I didn't dawn on me on how so many film actors have now gone to TV, usually this was the route of an actor really late in his/her career---Donna Reed, etc. Gary Sinise, Glenn Close, the Sheens, Kiefer Sutherland, Patricia Arquette, Dylan McD all had/have TV roles on primetime series! No wonder Grayson felt squashed out!
