kirsten stormsOk it's finally being confirmed Robyn Richards is OUT once again as Maxie and Kirsten Storms is in for GH. The thing i don't get was...they weren't interested in writing for Maxie and why now? and why not useRobyn? I hate that politics is ruining shows now...It's now all a game considering that ratings aren't going to get any better, and I'm afraid the IIC knows this. And My goodness I AM shocked that there has been no cattiness online about Kirsten coming back to soaps so quickly after trying to make it Hollywood. SHocked I tell you. I'm wondering if her agent just simply said she had no clout nor talent to make it in primetime haha. Why didn't Kirsten try a lil longer? She only like 21.
Idol, my darn stampsFreak, out of all the freakin luck...I watched Idol last night and I LOVED Nikko Smith's "Incomplete" Well cuz of phone vote screwups they had to do revotes tonight and repeat the show. Well on Sunday, I was pondering whether I should buy a new VCR cuz my VCR sucks so bad (it doesn't tape sound anymore), then I thought, well I haven't taped anything in months. And darnit, I wanted to tape this performance and I had two chances to do it!
Jennifer Finnigan of Bold Beautiful FameJennifer Finnigan must have THA most cunning agent out there. She has done another pilot and is the lead role on this one; a drama. This even while Committed is still hasn't been axed yet! This is pretty smart if she knew that Committed may not renew for next season so might as well try out some pilots now intead of waiting to next year! Wow as a former soapie, she is kickin azz! Lyndsey McKeon got some guest gig on One Tree Hill, and Aubrey Dollar's Point Pleasant has been axed. One distinctive feature is that Jennifer looks different from most other starlets and that's a huge plus. Plus she's actually a good actor.
Michael Knight, David Caruso, Jeremy GarrettI saw Soaptalk the other day with Michael E Knight of AMC and he told a hilarious story about how in 1986 he was invited to a Detroit Auto Show and was paid 5,000 bucks! When he got there there were 8,000 guests--unheard of for a soap star.. Well, he asked the audience if they all watched soaps, and nobody raised their hands...after more moments of awkwardness a boy asked, "Um where's the car?" It suddenly dawned on the producers that THIS WASN"T Michael Knight from Knight Rider! and wow, this was 1986 when soaps were bigger than they are now...and alas once again Primetime trumps over Daytime!
LIES AND THE WIVES WE TELL THEM TO (NBC) - Jeremy Garrett ("Legacy") is the latest addition to the comedy pilot, about four married best friends and their relationships. Garrett will play one of said quartet in the project, which also stars Johnny Sneed, Kyle Chandler and Ed Helms. David Guarascio and Moses Port are behind the NBC Universal Television-based project, which will now tape on Sunday, March 13 at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Grayson in an interview said that his agent in Fall of 2002 insisted that he wait to see what he could get in pilot season in 2003; he said he couldn't wait to work any longer and that's how he came to NYC and got ATWT. Which mebbe a good move conisdering the only drama/show? that lasted the first season was Las Vegas that year. some sitescheck out this Eric Close fansite...it is AMAZING www.ericclose.net
okay one more article to goI have one more SOW article to type up for Grayson once I get it. HUGE news and Grayson related. TV Guide online is reporting Daniel Cosgrove has done a pilot for a law show....so we are guessing if it gets picked up, then Daniel won't renew on Guiding Light. Whoa. As GM fans might know, it was Daniel who helped GM out in getting a gig on ATWT while he was on GL...They were good buddies and to hear that Daniel wants to leave daytime is just too ironic! Just the idea he went to GL when primetime chances were out that time... hey this is actually old bloggy I did and cut/pasted hereI looked at a Melody Thomas Scott interview about her home, and she had a wall of magazine covers she did. Wow didn't know YR made so many People Weekly covers! (wayyy back when soaps mattered more in the 1980s) We got some sadder milestones this week. Eden Riegel is off AMC, moving to L.A. like Peyton and trying out pilots for next season. What made Eden stand out in this current state of soaps was that she made household press, being blurbed in Us Weekly (about the Lianca kiss) and carrying the title of first major character Lesbian role on a soap. Once again a young 20something actor has left soaps for other stuff! I cannot seriously think of any 20something actor choosing to stay for a second contract on soaps now! (after Becky Herbst in 2000). The other news is Tamara Braun leaving GH...I was perked by two comments on the peanut gallery. One poster wailing that most likely, we won't ever see Tamara on a constant basis again (guest spots?) and the other that this is prolly Tam's final chance of making it in Hollywood whether it be in film and (more likely I think, primetime)---with Tamara being close to mid-30s sigh and a cruel showbiz world where youth is queen. One deviant from this is the cast of Desperate Housewives with a 40something roster. (side note: She kinds of looks like marcia cross, verdad? Her and also Laura Leighton (who I thought could've been Kimberly's kid sis on Melrose instead of Jane's!)
Madchen, imponderables, GM's articleI have been a longtime of those Imponderables books in fact that and those Bathroom Readers are the only books I read nowadays. Due to my pure laziness again, I've stoppedreading books and with my short attention span just stuck to reading on the Net and mags. Please go to www.imponderables.com David Feldman is pretty insightful and does a lot of stuff besides compiling facts on his books. He's written to me twice and now I realized how big this is considering authors don't do that type stuff (write handwritten letters to fans). My imponderable for him was "Why do prices here end mostly in .95 cents and .99 cents?" That was I think ten years ago? Dang, can't belive I can recall that far back.
Yipee Lost is on...Lost is on tonite and it didn't hit me until 4:30pm coming home from work (hitting 9.5 hrs today a record) that tonite's show is new (I never watch repeats of anything). I haven't been stuck to a drama show since the X-Files so it's a miracle for me finding a show that I didn't lost interest in after 3 eps. It just KILLS me that whenever I see Sawyer I imagine what it would be like for Grayson to play him. He just screams Sawyer to me.
SoapDigest, and primetime wishiesOkay I just received an old issue from 1994 of Soap Opera Digest, and I'm completely stunned at the more extensive content...the fonts were smaller to accomodate the length of the articles and the articles were soooo in-depth, for a Soap rag! Nowadays magazines are succinct and cartoonish! What a pity. Oh, and how this issue was all about their Soap Awards being on primetime. Now they don't show it on tv anymore and even skipped a year (2003) w/o much hoopla. Yup, had to put another "nail in the coffin for soaps" again today...w/o it would be like skipping coffee for me.
